Overview

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is the only approved and recognized professional dental course in India. It is an undergraduate degree of 4 years + 1 year rotary internship which trains students to enter the noble profession of dental science and surgery.

It is considered one of the most popular and pursued courses after MBBS in India. The minimum percentage required is 50% in Class XII with NEET qualification is necessary for BDS admission

Assessment

  • Formative and summative assessments are carried out.
  • At the end of year II, pre-clinical exercises on the phantom head using typodont teeth and viva voce.
  • At the end of year IV part II, theory exams include essay type and MCQs. Practical exams include clinical case study, restorations on patients and viva voce.
  • Formative assessments in the form of end posting exam at the end of every clinical posting.
